During the Arab Spring in 2011 the 22-year old Ramy Essam stood on Tahrir square, singing his battle songs together with hundreds of thousands of other protesters.
The Egyptian people insisted on having President Mubarak resigned. The violent events of the revolution had a drastic impact on Ramy’s’ life and values.Today Ramy spends his time between Finland and Sweden. In 2014 Sweden offered Ramy safe haven and a scholarship to study music through a program for artists at risk by ICORN. He continues touring different countries with his songs about democracy and peace. In the live report Ramy – In the Frontline the audience gets to meet him and take part in his story.
