Amfikino: Let the Right One In

Teater Viirus presents for the second year in a row: free outdoor cinema at the Night of the Arts on the 14th of August!

The evening starts with the artistic director of DocPoint, Inka Achtén. Inka will tell about her short-documentary Jasminin kaksi kotia (loosely translated: the Two Homes of Jasmin) in which young Jasmin is looking for a new community when she moves to a new country with her family. After Inka’s interview, the short-documentary is shown on the screen.

The film of the evening will be shown after the short-documentary. This year’s film is the beloved vampire film with cult status by Tomas Alfredson, Let the Right One In (Sweden 2008, based on the novel with the same name by John Avjide Lindqvist). The film has been praised as a teen film that uses the vampire theme more as a means to an end, because the director concentrated on the relationship between the characters more than he concentrated on the horror genre. The author of the book also wrote the script for the movie.

The film is an hour and 55 minutes long.

Both films will be shown with English subtitles.

Black currant juice and snacks will be served during the event. There will be a limited amount of the blankets and cushions available. The event is free of charge and is recommended for people over the age of 16.

Unfortunately the event isn’t accessible for people with movement disabilities, due to the steps in the amfi theatre.

The event follows the safer space principles.

The event will not take place in bad weather.

The AMFIKINO- event is organised in collaboration with Finlandsvenskt filmcentrum and DocPoint.

Address: Teater Viirus, Medelhavsgatan 14, 00220 Helsinki. The Amfi theatre in the inner yard.

The doors will open at 7.30pm and the first film will start at 8pm.
