Viirus Autumn 2026 celebrates international collaboration

The main production of autumn 2026 is an exceptional piece on Viirus’ stage, created by choreographer Jenni-Elina von Bagh (FIN), performance artist Majula Drammeh (SE), visual and performance artist Nastja Säde Rönkkö (FIN) and theater director Gosia Wdowik (PL). What happens when four artists from Finland, Sweden and Poland, are invited to Viirus to collaborate on a stage creation?

The multidisciplinary piece consists of four parts and is created under the working title Collage. The artists can be inspired and influenced by each other’s work and by one another. The process of creating art often emphasizes individualist talent and vision. This setting is reversed in the upcoming production: the performance celebrates the possibilities of collaborative work, offering the spectators an opportunity to see how art flows from one form to another.

The four artists have begun working in the fall of 2025 with lighting designer Katinka Ebbe, sound designer Pauli Riikonen, scenographer Fabian Nyberg, costume designer Autuas Ukkonen and the Viirus ensemble Maria Ahlroth, Iida Kuningas, Oskar Pöysti, Jessica Raita. The production premiers at Viirus on October 10th 2026, with performances running until the end of November 2026. An international tour is planned for the production after its’ season at Viirus.

For me the project is asking: Can different things coexist and be equally important without me having to influence everything?

About the artists

Choreographer, dancer and curator Jenni-Elina von Bagh (FIN) has developed her own physical practice for years. That practice is inspired by posthumanistic and philosophical concepts. She is especially interested in the eventfulness of contemporary performance, in which the humoristic and tragic collide and therefore creates its own language. Von Bagh was the artistic leader of the Center for New Dance Zodiak during the years 2023-2025.

Majula Drammeh (SE) is a Stockholm-based multidisciplinary artist working with dance and performance. Their practice is grounded in choreography and unfolds across performance, video, and installation. Majula explores vulnerability, attention, and social norms, with a strong focus on interactive and participatory approaches. Recent collaborative works include What Is Already Here? presented at Konträr Stockholm in March 2026.

Visual artist and performance artist Nastja Säde Rönkkö’s (FIN) works are often characterized by their series-like structure as well as their duration. In her works, future, present and history create imaginative visions that reshape reality. Rönkkö’s recent work includes the 26-part installation Survival Guide for a Child  which has been presented both at HAM and in the UK. Rönkkö has been working on a commissioned  piece Here with You for the past two years. Here with you will open in spring 2026.

Theater director Gosia Wdowik (PL) makes visual performances that are based on documentary material and are developed with personal, social and subconscious layers. She was a friend of someone else, her piece about activism and burnout with a clear focus on the abortion rights of Polish women, visited &Espoo Theatre in 2025. Wdowik’s latest work, Deeper (CAMPO 2025), was made together with teenage girls, exploring gender-based sexual violence and its representations.
